Peek
Shhh. Someone’s still up.

Why I’m making it
Product design is about taking the friction out. In a game, friction is the point. Peek is me trying my hand at something different.
Peek is a stealth game for iPhone where the door is the controller. Open it wider to see more, and you’re easier to spot. On an iPhone Duo, the phone itself is the door.
I started building it on my own in September 2026, with Claude Code.

Learning to build characters
I had never built a character before. The Midnight Snack has a family, the bank has a guard and the shop has mannequins that move when you look away. Each starts as a free rigged figure from Quaternius, walks and turns from its animation library, drawn flat with ink outlines so it reads like a cartoon. The hardest lesson was staging. Hand-placing never looked right, so the game sizes and lights every character from the room itself, and a new one looks right anywhere without me touching it.
Immersive audio
Sound is half the game
Sound matters most to me, and how it changes the way you play.
A studio for making worlds
To make worlds faster I built Peek Studio, a web app beside the game. Every world, its nights, its script and its sounds live there, every save exports them to the game, and one button installs the new build on my iPhone.

More doors to open
The Midnight Snack is one of six worlds in the game so far. Each is mostly a package of art, sound and levels on the same engine, with its own door and its own twist. Forty-five more are ideas in the Studio.
- Spooky · Teens
The Closet
Something walks the bedroom. Get out when it leaves.
- Spy · Family
The Bank Heist
Frosted glass doors. Slam too hard and a pane shatters.
- Spooky · Teens
The Mannequin
Locked in a store overnight. They only move when you’re not looking.
- Calm · Everyone
The Surprise Party
Snap the phone open at the exact moment to yell “SURPRISE!”
- Playful · Family
The Kiki Kick
Run while King Grumble isn’t looking.
- Idea · Little ones
The Peekaboo Panda
Collect three snacks hidden around the den.
Where it stands
Peek isn’t on the App Store yet. Six worlds play end to end, and right now I’m tuning: how fast each watcher walks, how often they glance at the door, how quickly the eye meter fills, night by night. Small numbers, big difference in how fair a catch feels. Next: TestFlight for friends and family, and trying the hinge on a real iPhone Duo.
